Happy Father’s Day pt 2
You’re not seeing double. These are two different articles, because there are two difference qualifiers. Happy Father’s Day to both! No white horses this time, but there is a kilt!
Happy Father’s Day
Blog does what it says it does. Come for the mushy stuff, (you can skip all that,) because mostly I want you to stay for the picture at the end.
The Specter Files #1 part 1.2: Enter the Hospital
This is a continuation of the 1st part of the story of a group known as the Specter Detectors when they toured a Hospital in New Orleans. You will meet these characters in The Specters of Mammoth Cave. But if you want to learn more about them check this out… Just read last weeks blog first. Ok. This might not be the last fiction I release as a blog, but the Rest of the Specter Files can be found elsewhere on the website. Just in Case
The Specter Files: #1 Pt 1.1: New Orleans
This week, and next week, I’m trying something different. In an effort to introduce characters important to the Specters of Mammoth Cave, I’m including Amelia’s writeup on the Ghost seeking team The Specter Detectors. It’s a ghost story. One of many in the Specter Detector’s line up. In the future, I’ll share more of them in The Specter Files. Don’t worry if you don’t read this. It’s not necessary for the book. Just a fun supliment in Case you want it.
Ghost Stories of Mammoth Cave and Other National Parks pt. 2
As we approach big announcements about the second book in the Junior Rangers Investigative Club Series, I thought I would take some time to speculate about why Specters are even a part of the legacy of a park as storied and amazing as Mammoth Cave.
I get to wax poetic about ghost stuff. Isn’t the book cover awesome? Tell Bailey, (find out how on the pages about the illustrator page.)
Ghost Stories from Mammoth Cave…: and other National Parks pt. 1
National Parks have a long history of ghost stories. Mammoth Park is definitely not an exception. But, why is that? Also, meet Bethany, she’s one of the new Junior Rangers Investigative Club members on her first (readable) adventure with the team. In The Specters of Mammoth Cave. Coming Soon!!!! As for the hand in the water, we don’t know their name just yet, looks like there might be a proper introduction soon!
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
2 Blogs in 2 days? What madness is this? Why!? Read the title silly!
Cemetery Discovered Underwater in Dry Tortugas
This week, the Dry Tortugas got a lot of new Publicity. So I will set aside my geology of Mammoth Cave article to discuss that instead. thank goodness! I have a great source to talk about this. It should make it easy to write, and easy to link… what time is it… well, I’m a day late.
I do summarize the press release about the Underwater Cemetery discovered in the Dry Tortugas, but hopefully I do more than that as well. By the way, I know it’s a catch title, but I hope you know that the cemetery was above water when they buried people there. The islands of the Dry Tortugas are prone to change. And did I see a journalist or two describe the grave marker as a headstone? Sometimes it’s ok to layoff the right-click synonym shortcut. The graywacke stone was obviously meant to be horizontal on top of the grave. Graywacke is a fancy way of saying gray sandstone, btw.
Impending things are coming!!!
Do I tell you what those impending things are??? Not outright. But are there hints scattered throughout the article? Yes. Are they good hints? I’m not staking my mystery writing career on it. Look out for more, and walk away with 5 fun facts about 2 national parks along the way! More about The Specters of Mammoth Cave and other things soon!!!
Cave Formations pt 2: types of formation
For the longest time, I called them, and spelled them Spelotherms. and I don’t know why. They aren’t temperature dependent. (for the most part) But a lot of different conditions leads to a lot of different Cave Formations!!! If this is a blog about Mammoth Cave, and the upcoming title The Specters of Mammoth Cave, then why am I including a picture of the last park location for a Junior Rangers Club Book: Treasure off the Coast. This might be the best search optimized I’ve ever made an excerpt, and I wasted it on this! Check out the blog for links to better articles with much more interesting pictures!
Mammoth Cave formations, formation.
You can find speleotherms in the most surprising of locations. But how did these formations, form?
Want a poor artist, verbose guide to Cave formation, formation? look no further than this blog. It’s about Mammoth Cave once again!!! Why? Because The Specters of Mammoth Cave is on it’s way!!!!!!!! <- too many exclamation points?
Thoughts on Drawing Dinosaurs
I was offered a chance to paint a picture with my words. To wit I responded: My Saliva only comes in 1 color, and clear doesn’t show up on paper. I think choosing to use ink and colored pencil instead was the right choice. (you cant even tell the soggy napkin was supposed to be a triceratops.)
My Favorite Least Known National Parks
Ok. I know. I’m on a Mammoth Cave Streak. Still, I thought I should share some of my other most Favorite National Parks. This time, I thought it might be nice to talk about some of the lesser known parks in North America.
Paths Often Traveled: Mammoth Cave pt 2
There are so many options when trying to decide which tour to take inside Mammoth Cave National Park. I continue to discuss, and highlight several of my favorite, and several which will take you on a journey shared by the Junior Rangers Investigative Club in the upcoming book: The Specters of Mammoth Cave!!!
Paths often traveled: Mammoth Cave
We all know why people come to Mammoth Cave. (It’s the Cave.) No mystery here. So, as I ramp up to announcing the pending launch of the second book in the Junior Rangers Investigative Club series: Specters of Mammoth Cave. I thought I would go ahead an highlight a few of the cave tours that I’ve enjoyed.
Pt. 2 Paths Less Traveled Mammoth Cave: Again
Today, I talk about some of the other paths I recommend taking, if you should ever visit Mammoth Cave. And I include many photos, some of which are relevant to the upcoming Junior Rangers Investigative Club Mystery.
Paths Less Traveled: Mammoth Cave
This week I wanted to try my hand at horror writing. However, that was taking too long. So, instead, I discuss an interesting question, and answer it through an experiment. (Without answering anything at all.) All to discuss Mammoth Cave, the lesser known Sand Cave, and Pokemon Go. Why? for fun.
Wupatki is Cool!
No Geology this week. Just a shout out to the first park I had any relationship too.
Wupatki National Monument in Arizona.
It’s not too deep, mostly sarcasm and pictures.
