Now Released!!!

Nearly 2 years ago, I was hiking the trail/gravel road to Floyd Collin’s old homesite inside Mammoth Cave National Park. It’s a rarely traveled, nearly unmarked trail on Flint Ridge Rd. (I’ve written about it elsewhere.) There was a family hiking the same trail.

We got to talking, and I told them that I was working on a book about Mammoth Cave. I shared my favorite anecdote about the place: That the Floyd Collins Home, was probably never lived in by Floyd Collins. (I think I shared this twice, because I had been going over dialogue and description in my head until we started talking, so my head was a little lost in the clouds of my own story.)

One young man heard me talking with his parents about the book, and he asked if I could put him in the novel. I, absentmindedly said that I would try. (while completely forgetting to make note of his name. Like Justin, I really should carry a physical notebook with me everywhere.") (Hopefully I remembered correctly.)

I remember telling them to look for the book within the year…

2 years later The Specters of Mammoth Cave is finally out! (I was underestimating the amount of work before me, including, but not limited to a hefty edit and asking Bailey for amazing illustrations.

This cover is Perfect! When I was writing the book, this was a scene I dreamed would be illustrated!!! (when you get the book check out the back as well, there are extra fun flourishes!

The interior illustrations!!!! Awesome! Bailey did an amazing job!!! These are spectacular…spectertacular? And they all enhance the story!

The Story was so fun to write! And I am thrilled that you will get to meet Amelia and Bethany finally!

I am so excited to share all of this with you, and I’ve been waiting and working on this for 2 years to get everything ready and make sure it was as awesome as possible.
