Extra

I have a deep secret to admit.

I actually kind of like Valentines. Not the day. Not the romance. Not the Candy. Not the Cards either. Although growing up, those were quite fun. - I’m actually a sucker for a terrible pun, or an illustration of a dinosaur or an alien holding hearts. But this gets to the part of V alentines I actually like: The Aesthetic.

Purple, pink, light blue, white. Hearts and goofy clouds. Winter pastels. Goofy pictures, terrible puns. I am not even saying it’s a good aesthetic. It might be, it might not be. I’m just inherently biased. I love winter, especially deep winter after the sun starts sticking around a bit longer. All the chill, but you get to see the ice on the trees, the chance of snow but sun reflects off the snowman’s face. (this is a very climate dependent opinion.) But anyway, I love late winter, and I love the fact that there is a goofy little holiday which appears after the big ones are over.

Candied hearts, and a dozen roses standing in the shadow cast by the season of holiday lights: Christmas, Hannukka, and New Years. It’s not a continuation of the other holidays, but it feels like it is. A slight extension of the festive season to get people through the longer nights of winter, a bit of color added to the gray days, or as contrast to the too-bright snow.

What’s the point of all of this?

Why did I skip most mention of the other aspects of the holiday: dates, dinners, etc?

Because this entire blog is just an Extra. Here for only 1 purpose.

To introduce this months Lattean Art. Tazo and his kind are here to stay. And I have fun making the seasonal theming.

Since I’m updating anyway, I thought I might as well blog it.

Especially since, as it turns out, I Illustrated more Latteans than would fit and I needed somewhere to share them.

That’s all this blog is. Just a little bit of extra cheer, like a valentines in the dead of winter. I hope your February is off to a good start, and if it is not, I hope that these goofy little guys are at least momentarily amusing. (they are to me!)

Don’t Freeze (or overheat for those south of the Equator!)

Fair warning. The next blog is about rocks!
